Sleep Study

Reagan has always been a snorer. It seems like the older she gets, the louder the snoring gets. I brought this up to her pediatrician (who we absolutely love) and he suggested that she see an ent (ear, nose, and throat specialist). Reagan's tonsils are a bit large and she sleeps with her mouth open, so I was worried about sleep apnea. The ent was a bit eager to remove her tonsils and adenoids, so we decided to have a sleep study done on her to make sure that it was really necessary. Reagan seemed to not care either way. We just don't want to have to put her through her second surgery within the first 6 years of life if we don't have to. It is very scary to put your little girl in that position. So these are the pictures from our (her's and my) night at the Pediatric Sleep Institute.

This is the beginning of many wires.

Still happy.

Starting to realize that there are going to be a lot of wires, now that the wires on the neck and nose have been placed.

Now some behind the ear. She really had a great attitude about the whole thing.

You can see all of the wires connected to the box. There ended up being a total of 23 wired connected to her little body.

Ah, the ones on the head. She didn't complain about those ones either.

Removing the glue from the hair has not been fun.

She was worried about moving and messing up the wires.

She was finally ready to go to sleep.

Reagan was such a trooper. She didn't complain at all. She is an amazing and brave little girl.
The sleep tech was absolutely wonderful. She is what made the whole experience a great one.

Now we just have to wait and find out what will happen next.

thats crazy how quick to want to remove the tonsils that ent was(especially if she hasn't had massive amounts of strep throat which is usually the reason, or has she?). you never know with some drs. its good that you are doing a sleep study first because i've heard that surgery is really hard and you don't want to put her through it unless you know for sure she does have apnea or some other problem. hopefully shes fine and you can avoid surgery! i have huge tonsils and it looks like aubreys are large also-and we both snore. poor kid gets it from me. also, aubrey just had to have some tests done on her hearing. she is only hearing at like 60-70% right now because of fluid in her ears remaining from infections she has had. i think its affected her learning a tad as she can't hear as well as the other kids. poor girl. i have to repeat myself a lot and speak loudly to her. anyways, shes on meds/nasal spray that the ent put her on to hopefully dry up the passageway so the fluid can drain. i'm praying it works because i do not want tubes in her ears. i am a conservative when it comes to all things medical! i don't want surgery at all:( no parent does!

wow, long comment. sorry!

reagan has hardly ever had strep in her 6 years. hopefuly we'll be able to find out what is truly best for her and not for someone's wallet.

that is really horrible about aubrey. heidi always had problems with fluid in her ears and just hearing in general when she was young. maybe that is why she is so loud (ha, ha). and ian had tubes put in as a baby. poor aubrey. let me know how things go with everything. she'll be in our prayers.

Wow Reagan, you're so brave. I dare say that Kayla would not be that brave with all of those wires. Reagan is looking especially grown up in all of those pictures. She looks 10 years old. Especially with the High School Musical pjs. Keep us "posted" on what happens with Reagan. Hope it all turns out well.

I'm impressed with Reagi-poo's bravery! I don't know if Cheeto or Bear would have been so good for sucha tedious procedure. ( Since everyone was talking about their kids in the comments... I felt like I should join the bandwagon :) )

anyansi- Hello, I know I haven't talked to you in forever but it was such a treat to find your blog. (one click just leads to another :)
I can't believe how big your girls are. I can't believe Reagan is almost done with Kindergarden, and just as beautiful as ever. I had heard from Stephanie Bean that you guys were in Dallas area now, it is funny what a small world it is. I just wanted to say hello, after looking through your blog a few times I figured it was time to stop lurking and say hello. Hope all is well, we would love to hear from you. ~ katelyn vanderpool
