Swimming

So far our summer/the month of July has consisted of a lot of swimming. I have been on a mission to make sure that the girls learn how to swim. So here is a mini update on their progress.

Reagan is finally swimming...but not coming up for air. I am hoping that this important skill will be tackled this week at swimming lessons. She was brave and jumped off the diving board (something that I as an adult still refuse to do. Yes. I am a major chicken). And she is working on floating on her back (that, I actually like to do).

Jenna...oh my gosh, Jenna! The kid is fearless which causes Mommy to be fearful! So she is swimming underwater (not coming up for air either). She loves going under. She too jumped off the diving board at swimming lessons on Thursday.

We went swimming with our friends the Ella, Aubrey (2 girls pictured above with my monkeys), Holly, and Cali on Friday, and just spent the whole day with them (thanks ladies, we had a blast). The whole time, Jenna was jumping into the water and swimming around whether I was near her or far from her. It was terrifying. And poor Reagan wanted to work on her swimming and Jen just wouldn't let her. Needless to say, Jenna is a nut!

I will attempt to put up some pictures of the girls at swimming lessons, in the near future.

I'm Back!

Earlier this week, I got back from my Vegas/Family Reunion trip. I left my wonderful hubby for 4 days alone with the girls. It was much needed. And I am very greatful that he was more than willing to send me off (like I said, it was a much needed break).

So the first 2 days were spent in Vegas with my younger sister. She showed off her mad lady skills (aka flirting) and got us upgrades in everything that you could possibly imagine. Way to go Heidi. We had a blast shopping, site seeing, and just talking our heads off.

Ian told Heidi to make sure that I was wild and crazy. ....this is about as wild and crazy as I get. I spent a whole dollar on 1 slot machine. I know what you are thinking, "this girl needs to settle down." :) So I am not exactly "wild and crazy", oh well.


I took my lovely date/sister to dinner and then we went and saw Wayne Brady. The guy was hilarious! The show consisted of comedy, singing, and dancing. We were very impressed and very entertained.

After a fun time in Vegas, we headed into Utah for our family reunion. It was fun to see uncles, aunts, and cousins. Our family has one of these every other year and the past 2 times I have skipped. So it was fun to be back.

And here I am with my family. It was so great that we could be there together.

I had a great time, and Ian and the girls were alive when I got home. Who can ask for anything more.

One of the fun things we did for our anniversary was eat (for those of you who know me, that is about the most fun thing to do in my book....ah, foooooddddd.) Ian took me to Local.

It was a nice intimate place with great service and wonderful food. We tried the Chef's Tasting Menu. It allows you to have a small portion of everything good. We left completely stuffed and very happy. I recommend trying it!

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Today, Ian and I are celebrating our 8th anniversary. I can honestly say that I feel so blessed that he is mine and I am his. He is an amazing man who somehow, continues to put up with the likes of me. Ian is very loving and makes us his priority. I love this man more than anything else in the world! Happy Anniversary Hun!

One thing that I love about sisters, of any age, is that when one is sad or hurt, the other is always there with open arms and filled with love.

It's Summertime!!!!

Reg is out of school for the summer. So what do we do? Immediately jump in the car and head out to visit my folks! They are being spoiled, watching way too many movies, eating junk (which they request), playing outside, and will be heading for the beach.

We are home and it feels oh so good....

Sleep Study

Reagan has always been a snorer. It seems like the older she gets, the louder the snoring gets. I brought this up to her pediatrician (who we absolutely love) and he suggested that she see an ent (ear, nose, and throat specialist). Reagan's tonsils are a bit large and she sleeps with her mouth open, so I was worried about sleep apnea. The ent was a bit eager to remove her tonsils and adenoids, so we decided to have a sleep study done on her to make sure that it was really necessary. Reagan seemed to not care either way. We just don't want to have to put her through her second surgery within the first 6 years of life if we don't have to. It is very scary to put your little girl in that position. So these are the pictures from our (her's and my) night at the Pediatric Sleep Institute.

Now some behind the ear. She really had a great attitude about the whole thing.

You can see all of the wires connected to the box. There ended up being a total of 23 wired connected to her little body.

Ah, the ones on the head. She didn't complain about those ones either.

Removing the glue from the hair has not been fun.

She was worried about moving and messing up the wires.

She was finally ready to go to sleep.

Reagan was such a trooper. She didn't complain at all. She is an amazing and brave little girl.
The sleep tech was absolutely wonderful. She is what made the whole experience a great one.

Now we just have to wait and find out what will happen next.

All Worn Out

One of Jenna's eardrums ruptured a few weeks ago. She was just miserable. Once we got some meds in her, she just wanted to sleep

Take Me Out to the Ball Game...Take Me Out for the Food (my version of the song)

Last Saturday we went to an A's game (I guess it was a Rangers game but I am married to a Californian, so we called it the A's game). We took our friends, the Duenas family. Holly and I have been friends since high school/seminary. We went to good old Del Mar College/ Institute together. We both were married around the same time and were pregnant with our first children at the same time. We have also lived in Corpus, Austin, and the DFW area at the same time. If they ever leave the state, that is where I draw the line. I told Ian, Texas and only Texas will be called home. Sorry Holly. Anyway, as you can tell, they are dear friends of ours that can't get rid of us. Now back to the story... We all went to the game together. Joey is from California too and was routing for the A's along with Ian. The poor guys left the game a bit disappointed. Let's face it everything is bigger and better in Texas, that's why the Rangers won (that is also why they both married Texans :) ).
